As this age gets more and more technologically sophisticated, with ipads, macs and laptops endlessly being reinvented, becoming slimmer and more light weight, there's something archaic and romantic about a heavy and bulky old typewriter. Not only do they serve a very practical purpose, but as objects in themselves, they are beautiful pieces of vintage furniture. If Past Present Future were to write a novel, the only suitable mode would be an old typewriter.




Typewriters and their many parts are having a bit of a revamp too, the latest trend being jewellery made from typing keys. What really caught our eye is these sculptures which are fashioned from old parts of vintage typewriters (that were hopefully far past their original purpose.) Although they do look a little bit like the quirky metal ornaments that you find in a doctors office, they show how the old can be put to a new allbeit quirky use.
